Japn 302: History of Japan
Course Description:

Students will demonstrate ability to accurately comprehend ideas across a range of historical content. Taught in Japanese. (Credit/No Credit Available)
Course Narrative:
As I took the Business English class in Japan taught in Japanese, I was ready to face another difficult class that promised the same if not more of a workload. This class had a mix of everything for me. While we focused on the content of history in Japan, we also focused on some grammar key points here and there to try to put them into sentences. (Lesson 2) what we focused on more throughout the semester was understand key points in history and discussing this in Japanese. Every lesson we had questions related directly that can be found only from reading and have questions that applied outside thinking to answer. Every Sunday this was due and to comment on our peer’s answers as well. (Example Lesson Questions) By having this constant interaction in Japanese, I felt my language proficiency greatly increased with this class. I was confident enough with the material to be able to present the final presentation we had in Japanese as well. (Final PowerPoint) the script for that is available in English (English Script) as well as in Japanese (Japanese Script).
